New Records for 2025

chairman403

The year is barely one month and one week old, but New Records have already been achieved.

January Winter Field League Shoot

Thirty Eight archers braved the cold frosty slopes of The Warren where the course setters kept the targets on the frosty side of The Warren for an extra chilly element to the shooting.

Steve Allam topped the leaderboard in shot and adjusted scores shooting Traditional,

Rumaysa Chader, a junior competitor at U15, took the top spot in Recurve,

Arthur Sampson, another U15, took top spot in Longbow,

Rob Aldridge topped the Barebow shooters,

Brandon Reese topped the AFG category,

David Minter topped the Compounders, and

David Mahers was top Asiatic shooter.

Guildford Indoor

A couple of our competing archers made the trip to shoot WA25, Ed Pockett finished 2nd and 6th in the Barebow category out of 39 archers for the two sessions he shot in and Richard Buckner took 6th spot out of 67 in Recurve, the top spot unsurprisingly going to a Team GB Olympian.

Hampshire Indoor Championships

Several members made the trip to Eastleigh and overall they did rather well.

Steve Allam, shooting a Traditional bow, took Silver in the Barebow category.

Richard Buckner took Gold in Recurve.

Ed Pockett took Gold in all four sessions in Barebow across the weekend, so not only are he and Richard Hampshire Champions for 2025, but Ed also set a new Hampshire Double Portsmouth record of 1120 for Barebow, well done Ed.

Improvers Sessions

We're trying to run a monthly Improver Session and we had a great turn out with nine members taking the opportunity to come along to Testbourne on our January Improver Session on a Wednesday Club Night with Coach Nigel visiting to help anyone who wanted any Archery related help they needed.

We're aiming (yes, pun very much intended) to run an Improver Session each month which will coincide with Coach Nigel's visits whenever possible.

If you have any questions, queries, or aspects of your archery you want some help with, big or small, no matter whether it's equipment or technique related, please do sign up to an Improver Session sometime soon.
